With 94% of the votes counted, we have a pretty good estimate of what candidates spent per vote. Ted Cruz spent the least at only $19 per vote. Donald Trump is also looking very strong. Jeb Bush spent the most, at just over $1,200 per vote. The three figures below show the following:
- The “cost” of each vote for each candidate. This is simply the sum of the amount they and their Super-PACs spent in New Hampshire divided by their estimated total vote count
- The spending and adjusted vote for all candidates in New Hampshire. In this case I just multiplied votes by 100 so that the two figures were the same order of magnitude.
- The data I used for these charts
1 – Cost per vote
2 – Spending and votes (adjusted for scale)
3 – Data for both charts
